More like five pubs in one. Caters for everyone from the public bar to family area. Restaurant was good for food and service, overlooking Bangalow's main street with all its heritage and charm. The deconstructed cheesecake dessert was sensational. I'm sure they sacked the chef and hired an artist. I ordered a beer in the public bar. Came back an hour later to order my second beer and the bartender treated me like a local when he simply said, "another of the same?" So yeah, excellent service, food, easy parking out back plus old tiles and architraves to add to the experience. Quite possibly the best pub in the world.
We used to eat here regularly but then we had a terrible experience, hence the one star from us (I would have given it zero)... One night when I ordered the steak, which is normally very good it was terrible. I could cook much better myself at home. It was completely tough and chewy, and it was actually hard to eat. When the waitress asked how the food was I was honest and she told me it must have been because of the meat supplier. On the same night my two kids had the fish and chips which are also normally OK. However, my son did say that the fished tasted 'funny' and neither of them wanted to eat it. In the middle of the night one of my sons did the most massive food poisoning induced vomit which pretty much killed an expensive futon mattress. He was spewing like a volcano and it was definitely the fish and chips coming up from the depths of his belly. We have never eaten here again since and avoid it like the plague. Sorry but this was our honest experience.
